Random Ponderings on Childrens' Cartoons

Did I even add the apostrophe in the correct place on childrens? I am super tired tonight, but I haven't blogged in 2 months, so this will be a doozy I'm sure. Something last week got me to thinking about the cartoons that William watches. Many of them annoy me to death, er make that most of them. He came back from his grandparents' house last weekend with the worst of them all, Caillou. I mean seriously, this child is completely bald and has the whiniest voice in the world! I cannot stand to watch one episode of this, much less an entire DVD! Thanks Grandmama! ;) Caillou's parents never get upset with him either. Not even when he caused his friend to trip and break his leg!

Another cartoon that makes me go hmmmm... is Dora. Where are her parents? What kind of parents allow their young child to roam through the jungle alone, knowing that she and her monkey friend, Boots, are being chased by a fox.

Max and Ruby is another classic example of absentee parenting. That poor Max. This show is painful to watch and I used to be that bossy annoying older sister! Really, Ruby, give him a break. Since the parents are never around, Ruby sends Max to the grocer and then is so surprised that four year old Max didn't get everything on the list!

Anyone else know of any other highly annoying children's programming? And Barney goes without saying!

I totally agree with you on all of these. My newest peeve is Yo Gabba Gabba. I mean, seriously, what's the deal with the dude in the orange spandex jumpsuit with the fuzzy hat. Addison loves it. I don't get it. There's something seriously wrong with some of these shows.

Apparently Strawberry Shortcake is another parentless cartoon character. Fortunately my kids don't watch much TV but most all of it is annoying to me...the one that tops the list is "Miss Pattycake"- she's the overzealous kindergarten teacher that would drive you BONKERS with her expressions and drawn out voice...not to mention her red hot lipstick! (she's got a great message though!) Glad to see you've ventured back into the blogging world.

Oswald? Every character on this show is an animal or insect that talks except Weinie, who actually looks like a hot dog but doesn't talk. The only show that I actually liked was Blue's Clues, even though it had talking animals, fruits and vegetables and salt and pepper shakers. Thankfully, we've moved on to more realistic fare, like Spider-Man. ;P
